No one seems to have doubted that the fellow from Stratford wrote the plays until about 200 years after his death. That tells you something.

  2. There is much in what you say, Bill. I will have to look it up, but I seem to recall that J. B. Priestley rebutted the idea quite effectively many years ago.

  3. I assume, Mr Peschel, that you are implying at the least that the person you refer to is less intelligent and more gullible than, say, a critic of his or her position. I find that hard to believe about, for example, every signatory of the Declaration of Reasonable Doubt About the Identity of William Shakespeare. But perhaps even just my subscribing to such skepticism is an indicator of my intelligence and gullibility as well.
