Good for her ...

... At 92, Dame Vera Lynn Has Britain’s No. 1 Record. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

More here.

I actually remember hearing "We'll Meet Again" from time to time over the radio when I was a very small child during the war.

  1. Man, I can't get that song's association with Strangelove out of my memory banks. :)

  2. That's understandable. My memory of it goes back to a much more formative time of life. I am not a Trangelove fan myself, in part because I worled for quite some time in the field of arms control and disarmament and Kubrick (and Terry Southern) obviously knew nothing about the reality. I think Kubrick's masterpiece is Paths of Glory. What do you think of that one?

  3. Yeah, love PATHS OF GLORY. But I think my favorite Kubrick film might be BARRY LYNDON, which doesn't get any respect despite being very funny and sad and misunderstood and beautiful.
