Anthony Burgess, journalist …

… Blake Morrison on Anthony Burgess the critic – ‘he aspired to know everything’ | Books | The Guardian. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

In the hierarchy of forms, literary journalism comes near the bottom. Its practitioners are hacks, whose domain is Grub Street and who produce mere copy.
