A Humument, Victoriana Reimagined | Quadrapheme. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)
Phillips has said that “serendipity is my best collaborator”, and there is something in the rhythm, mischief, and pithiness of the phrases of A Humument which serendipitously anticipates the ways we communicate in modern life. Most of the pages of A Humument would fit within the 140-character limit of a tweet, or make a snappy (if obscure) Facebook post. To revise the earlier image of tin cans – perhaps it is as though Dante, Donne, Joyce and Forster are texting one another.
