The poet as saint …

One slight correction: It was John the Evangelist, not John of the Cross who lived on Patmos and the Book of Revelation.

    Was Merton in fact a scholar? And if "prolific" measures output, I dare say that somewhere some Catholic writer, good or bad, outdid him.

    But I should read the book.

  2. I wondered about that, too. Ronald Knox wrote quite a bit, probably more than Merton. Better, too.
