That couldn't work in the United States. We'd be measuring one negative quantity against another, and the results would yield a false positive.
Sometimes, hard though it may be to accept, being unhappy is unavoidable. In fact, it can even be helpful, indicating that something is seriously wrong in your life, like, for example, when you get your credit card bill and experience great unhappiness due to not having enough spondulix to cover the minimum payment due. This serves as a healthy reminder not to spend so much and so avoid 1st of the month unhappiness.
Did you know that the managers of Enron regularly took Prozac? Perhaps if they'd taken less, those guilty and unhappy feelings they would have experienced would have signalled to them that they were doing something wrong and would never have had to resort to blaming short sellers for their own incompetent criminalities.
Happiness is fun and everything, but unhappiness has its uses too.
