    I wonder if his and Tagore's birthday celebrations were this big when they were alive? Just goes to show once again, people will go to a party, before they buy a book of poetry.

  2. Given what Will Durant says of Tagore in volume one of The Story of Civilization (written when Tagore was till alive) it seems he was celebrated. If mememory serves Durant said he was possibly the most impressive man on the planet.
