One of the great losses from that cast/crew was Pedro Armenderiz, Sr. ... an established star from the golden era of Mexican cinema when he caught the eye of Hollywood's John Ford ... his last foray in front of the camera was as the chief of the Turkish Secret Service in "From Russia with Love" ... just a few months after that, he was diagnosed with inoperable, terminal cancer, and took his own life ...
His son still appears in films from time to time ... I last saw PA, Jr. as the territoral governor - an older, but robust, bearded gentleman - in "The Legend of Zorro" with Antonio Banderas ...

I've never seen that John Wayne movie but I guess it may have killed a lot of the crew (radioactive fallout).
