The pudgy tattooed women en route to paradise had diamonds in their navels; the shaven-headed men, lager made flesh, had skimpy vests stretched painfully over their beer bellies, gold chains and an earring to prove their indelible individuality.

Pomposity and snobbishness -- not so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know. I think I prefer my pomposity and snobbishness to be out in the open rather than disguised as "tolerance of diversity." Moreover, a sloven is a sloven, and if that is what one encounters, that is what should describe. No euphemisms need apply.
