Thought for the day ...

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Have you ever tried to do this in a dense forest? It's a rather painful experience and quite frequently requires sturdy, sharp tools (sharper than a pen, I might add).

  2. Actually, I have hiked quite a bit where there is only a trail, which is to say only blazes to mark where you are to go. It's quite strenuous, especially in Pennsylvania's deceptively modest mountains. And I have also made my way - though not often - through woods that didn't even have a trail. That's not so much more difficult as it is scarier - since one hopes one is going in the right direction. But mental forests can be dense, too.
