Learning something new ...
I have been reading Peter Ackroyd's biography of Chaucer. Last night I came upon a passage that made reference to something called "sea-coal." I had never heard of sea-coal, but assumed - more or less correctly, as ot happens - that it was coal that washed up from the sea. But it turns out there's a good deal more to it than that: Sea-Coal.
