Why does it not surprise ...

... that Jacques Brel would have been taken with the role of Don Quixote? For if he as a madman lived, he surely as a wise one died.

  1. I'd love to see a translation of his translation of "Man of La Mancha." I'm sure he put his own spin on some of the lyrics.

    And I found this interesting tidbit from Wikipedia: "The original lyricist of the musical was poet W. H. Auden, but his lyrics were discarded, some of them considered too overtly satiric and biting, attacking the bourgeois audience at times. Auden's lyrics were replaced by those of Joe Darion."

    I wonder if Auden's lyrics are available anywhere...
