The Top Ten Books People Lie About Reading

One person's take.

I remember years and years ago arguing about a book with my partner's best friend.  We went to and fro, got quite annoyed about each other because the other just wasn't seeing what we saw in the book,  till my partner, somehow sensing something wasn't quite right, asked us both, "Wait a minute, have either of you actually read the book?"  And we both admitted we hadn't...(but we had both read a review, which sort of counts right?)

  1. Does the use of the word "Randian" imply that one has read Atlas Shrugged? Would the use of the word "Marxist" then imply that one had slogged though all three volumes of Das Kapital? And I cannot imagine why one would pretend to have read Les Miserable or for that matter several of the others.
