Something I forgot ...

... to mention. The other day, one of these guys was perched in my South Philly backyard. It's a red-tailed hawk.

Dave, can you tell me how I could find out if Tom Stoppard ever reviewed any of David Hare's plays when he (TS) was a theatre critic for Bristol's newspaper? I mentioned you vis-a-vis this in a post on Petrona (comments on "Three letters"), but you may not have seen it. I'm writing an essay about these two guys and I can't find much about their thoughts on each other.....

  3. About three-quarters of the time in movies and on TV when you hear the cry of a raptor (eagle, hawk, etc.) they use the distinctive cry of the red-tailed hawk - it's become a rather iconic sound of freedom and the American west. (And if your significant other is a birder, this misuse of bird calls is a constant source of irritation.)
