I am blessed with an uncanny ability to block out ambient sounds, so it never bothered me much. But I do remember being puzzled once by the music playing in an elevator. It sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Then it came to me: It was "Satisfaction," in a bizarrely soporific Muzak arrangement.
