OWL (Omnipresent Wisconsin Librarian) flies off …

… Breaking news: Dave Lull retires.

Dave writes: "I've spent 39 years in librarianship, 14 in Wisconsin in various jobs at a public library, an academic library, and a regional system's headquarters, and the last 25 in Minnesota at the Duluth Public Library, first as a reference librarian, then as the lead cataloger, next as the librarian in charge of Technical Services, then as supervisor of Technical and ILS Services, and at the end as the supervisor of Adult and Technical Services."
One of the the great people. It is a privilege to know him. Go, Dave!

  1. Dave has emailed me several interesting links in recent years. I've come to see him as a mysterious but undeniably benevolent (and seemingly omnipresent) figure, and I wish him well in retirement!

  2. Dear Friend and Lifer Hero. ITA with Frank, one of the greats. And, although you leave your work-work now, I know you will continue to be a part of my life because you are one of my top one online friends :). Take it easy for about a nano-sec; but, you won't. You are the best thing that happened to me during my time here at BITE. (I hope Frank never removes you from the top of the page, EVER.) I bet Pat and Emily are thrilled to have more of you, too. (Who wouldn't be? You are one of the kindest, sweetest, gentlest, generous, wondrous, and brilliant human beings on the planet.) I won't miss you because you will always be a part of my life, a fact for which I count the horseshoes on my arse daily. (Well, what did you expect? This is me you're reading, LOL.) We all love you. We are all better people for your place in our lives. We all wish you only and always the best, doing what always comes naturally and effortlessly. Smoooooooooch! (O, and thank you for always being there for me as I am always here for you, too. Come visit, now, eh?)

    Undeniably w/Love, Judith

    1. Dear Judith,
Thank you for your kind comments about me and generous wishes for my retirement. I’m overwhelmed and stunned into even less elegant than my usual inelegant writing in trying to indicate my gratitude. But I am very grateful for your friendship.
      Love,
      Dave

    1. Thanks, Cynthia.
I’ll still be hanging out among my favorite blogs, yours included, maybe even more so in retirement than when I was working.
      Best,
      Dave
