I disagree with Abdullah Muhammad Abdullah, nothing has been shown that pest control will decrease the tragedy of Covid-19 happening in Sweden, nor will pest control solve the NYT's problem with accuracy in its reporting, although working conditions may improve.
That said, in order for Sweden to be worse than the USA, even if they got it first, they had to be both as bad as the USA and as good. There's no way they gave all their citizens zombie medications to make them all superspreaders who would not wear masks and get too close for too long with other people. Too many people everywhere have too much sense to go along with poor leadership.
Sweden's current results show that they were maybe as bad as the USA in handling the pandemic. They still have the distinction of the virus spreading grievously rapidly, like the USA. Certainly, there are Swedes who stayed indoors, companies that got shut down, heroes who saved lives, hereoes who lost theirs, and so forth, just as in the USA, and in the end, maybe better than the USA, but this article a voice from inside, where death and suffering have overtaken a country, much like world wars do. Covid-19 attacked, and they poorly defended their country, as we did, in the USA.
Do I tend to agree with Emanuel Karlsten on his assessment of the NYT article? Sure, okay, makes sense, and someone from "inside" the Sweden massacre needed to speak out, to get the world closer to knowing exactly how that country failed too. Just as all the successful states and countries, such as Kerala, should line up to tell how they won against the virus, we and Sweden need to line up to tell the real story of how we lost dso badly.
It could not have been as bad as NYT said, because even more would have died. We in the USA need to understand this for ouselves as well.
But further, we in the USA are understanding what epidemiologists have been warning us about. Everyone must wear a mask, everyone must keep their distance, everyone must wash their hands. If we do not, then we cause the spread to other countries, just as we have spread it now to Florida, Arizona, and more. Yesterday's states of victory so easily become today's stories of widespread death and defeat.
