Sounds right to me …

… It's time to abolish 'emergency' COVID-19 powers.

… science, and rationality in general, is about changing your opinions when you learn new facts. And what we’ve learned is that COVID is somewhat worse than the flu but not nearly bad enough to justify the enormous, expensive and disruptive changes we’ve endured.

  1. It's advertised that the count of dead is over 800,000 US residents. We've been over a million actual dead since the summer. The count only includes those who were diagnosed with Covid-19. A significant number never got the diagnosis, but dies at home. This is a travesty of death and suffering, a vicious pandemic.

But the flu? We left the possibility of that comparison well over a year ago. It's not even close. The flu is a pinky caught in a door jam compared to Covid-19 being run over by a steamroller -- and I do not mean to minimize deaths by anything, just to say that there is no comparison.

What's apparently happening here, is that anyone who buys into a flu comparison is simply confounded by the magnitude of the pandemic -- which, by the way, and not to minimize this, includes lifelong organ damage to anyone who catches it and a likely shortening of lifespan.
