Thanks to Blogger’s updating, I can no longer make comments of my own on my own blog. But I feel obligated to remind Rus that Fauci has been all over the place from the start. I may not be a physician, but I am medically literate, having done a lot of medical editing my time. And I am hardly the only person who has ceased to take Fauci seriously. Remember, this is the guy who signed off on s substantial grant to the Wuhan lab.
Why is anyone hanging on every possible nuance of every word Fauci says with such hostility? He said and meant nothing we all don't already know.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that after two years of cancelled events, we may now attend many. Where there weren't crowds, now there may be. Here in Lowell, after two years of not having our big festival, we're having it this summer.
Yet, the pandemic is still on. By definition, the world is still under the pall of a pandemic. Covid-19. It's huge, worldwide, and so forth. Do we need Fauci to say it is so. If he were to deny it, would it go away?
Here in this country, with most people vaccinated and even boosted, still wearing masks, etc., with Omicron spreading around instead of the more deadly Delta, we are definitely in a different "phase". We all know that. We all know exactly what he meant.
Would he have been better off, with hostile media just waiting to pounce -- could he have better explained what he was saying or chosen to say something different than "pandemic phase"? Sure. Indeed, it is sort of a different pandemic phase. But he was only saying what we all know anyway. When he said it, we all knew the pandemic was still on.
We would all be better off if the government didn't have incompetent people working in positions of high authority.
ReplyDeleteI think the reporting on Covid has been some of the worst I’ve ever seen. It took me, right at the beginning of all this, very little time to determine the Wuhan lab raised bats. As for Fauci, do some research and see how he handled AIDS.
