... the late John McGahern on God and Me (sent along by Dave Lull). The quote from Proust - a close friend of the wonderful Abbe Mugnier - is fascinating. I am no fan either of Freud or The Future of an Illusion, but I certainly understand McGahern's dim view of ecclesiastical tyranny. There are few stumbling blocks to faith greater than the behavior of many of those charged with running the Church.
