The short list for the really, really big ...
... literary award - the 100,000-pound IMPAC Dublin Literary Award - is up. Colm Toibin's The Master wouild be a worth choice. But so would Yasmina Khadra's The Swallows of Kabul, a wonderful book by a writer who deserves to be better known. (Hat tip, Maxine Clarke.)
