I think the most interesting point is that this husband-and-wife team spent $50,000 of their own money to get this thing off the ground. Not exactly a path most would-be authors can take. It is illustrative of what it takes to break through to the public when going outside of the mainstream publishing - reviewing -book buying process, even if the quality of the work is very good.
I was in some ways "disappointed" they didn't also have a pile of agent rejection letters to go with their personal success. Perhaps they could have just gone the mainstream route without too much trouble (just some time delay) - but that's something that can't be known now. But a nice story, nonetheless.
