I enjoyed Scalzi's first book, Old Man's War. It wasn't of quite the same level of quality as the books that no doubt inspired it -- novels like Heinlein's Starship Troopers or Card's Ender's Game -- but I found it to be very entertaining.I missed his second book, though.
