What hath Maxine wrought?

... Dave Lull brings to my attention the lively discussion appended to this post: Top ten failed intellectuals.

At least no one challenged my credentials as a Failed Intellectual.

I've been away for a couple of days so have missed most of it. In my opinion (and in the list of blogs I gave as "FI" blogs), true intellectuals are neither pretentious or posing. There is a difference between this and a formal academic. I think many of these official "lists of intellectuals" or "great thinkers" get the two muddled up.

Oh well, I probably should not have mentioned Richard Dawkins! .

  2. Oh, why not mention Richard Dawkins? I think Dickie loves to be mentioned. (A fried of mine knows him, and likes him, but fears that if Dickie learns that my friend is Catholic he will no longer be his friend. That's sad. When I was a kid, I had an uncle who was anti-Catholic. I always made sure I was out when he visited - and my family was happy to know that I would be gone, because even as as child I had this tendency to say exactly what I thought.)
