This, of course, is why I no longer attend blockbuster art shows. I can't bear the crowd decked out in headsets. I prefer to go off and find a painting I like and just look at it for it few minutes. That may be enough. A really good painting - say, Fantin-Latour's Portrait of Sonia - demands as much of your attention as a 20-minute tone poem - if you really engage it. It should provide aesthetic nourishment for the remainder of the day.
