A well-nigh perfect ...

... blog post: Hidden Valley.

I mean formally (though I am in agreement with the substance). The writing is lovely, and it is just the right size. (I am preoccupied these days with the notion of blog form.)

  1. Isn't the essence of "blog form" its formlessness. Your snippets, my longish posts, posts where comments take the form of new posts, posts that are continuation of other posts at other sites, etc...

  3. Point taken, Bud. But that applies to the blog overall. And I like that. I think it more accurately reflects the life-flow of the mind. What I was referring to - I should have been more precise - is those snippets, or even your longish posts. I think there's a form emerging from these - not too long, but long enough. A long-form epigram, shall we say. And this post of Bryan's filled me with admiration - it evokes the scene so wonderfully and economically. And that last sentence makes a point without sinking into preachification (to coin a barbarism).

  4. I was just trying to pull that out of you so you'd elaborate- it's an interesting topic.
