Thought for the day ...

Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.
- John Milton

  1. John Milton, were he alive today, might be increasingly uncomfortable about the prospects for liberty with respect to knowledge, utterances, arguments, and conscience in the 21st century. I know that I am. For example, if some things go as planned, I can hardly wait as someone over the specified age to have my federally mandated, regularly scheduled consultations with a physician so that the medical authorities and I can discuss my "right to life" or "right to die" options. That is simply one example that Milton would be shocked to contemplate.

    Postscript: Welcome back, Frank.
