Paternity case ..

John Derbyshire wonders: Jules Verne: Father of Science Fiction?

  1. I've loved Jules Verne since I was a teen, And I've read everything of his that we have in print!

I would have to say that, yes...he is the father of SciFi! IMHO!

  2. I agree, Jules Verne was one of my favourite authors as a child/teen, and 20,000 leagues under the sea one of my absolute favourite books. I was taught at school that he is the father of science fiction -- if that adds any weight!
Good article at the link, Frank. I read it when you first posted and then forgot to come back and say thanks for finding it....

Incidentally, if you visit Disneyland Paris, you'll find quite a few of the rides and displays there are based on Verne's inventions.
