  1. Interesting that Cathy, who loves reading, could not get into it at all. She said it was too slow.
    I loved Rebecca as a girl but I have read a debate on a blog recently about it, and how awful Max de Winter was, and how one just sort of accepted him in the "old days" but today, he would seem a bit of a -- I was going to say cad, but that's an old word -- swine?
    Makes me wonder whether the book really does endure in that timeless sense of, eg Steinbeck.
