Take the test ...

... Are you scientifically literate? Take our quiz - Composing about 78 percent of the air at sea level, what is the most common gas in the Earth's atmosphere? - CSMonitor.com.

I am pleased to report I that I passed, not exactly with colors, but well enough.

  1. The interface is maddening, and I quit with 10/10.

It strikes me that one can score well without knowing anything in particular about science. I would hesitate to try my hand at a chemistry or physics lab experiment above the introductory high school level, but yes, I remember that it's carbon that makes it organic chemistry, and that "c" is the constant for the speed of light in a vacuum.

  2. I got 28 on 50 correct, and I am dying to explain why it could have been better if x and if y and if z....

One example, of course, amoeba reproduce through mitosis. I dunno why i clicked meiosis. I guess the names had novelty after all this time :)

  3. Yes, the interface is maddening, and I was nearly late for an appointment because it's hard for me to stop doing something once I've started.
My score was 72. Should have been 73, but in one instance I clicked the wrong box and didn't notice until it was too late. On the other hand, I had to make some educated guesses.
I suppose I've reached the age when it's easier to remember what I learned in school than what I came downstairs for.
